10 Units Duke -14 -101
This game doesn't have the appeal it might have had a couple of years ago as Duke (R: 4-0 SU, ATS) is loaded (shooting 48% from the field) and the Hoyas are more like prey than a worthy adversary. Duke's only loss has been to a very good Purdue squad that's climbing in the Big-10. In their easy win over Maryland this week, JJ Reddick scored 26 points and freshman Luol Deng collected 13 points and 12 rebounds, helping Duke to a commanding 49-36 advantage on the glass. Rebuilding Georgetown has a modest 2-3 Big East mark and isn't much of a threat for postseason play at this point. Early this week they skirted by St. John's 71-69 with a last second victory. The Hoyas don't have much of an outside game and will do well to stay in the same building here.

A real bad spot for Southern Miss. Cincinnati (R: 4-1 SU, 3-1 ATS) began the week undefeated and was soundly defeated by Louisville 93-66 Wednesday. Both teams entered on 13-game winning streaks but the Bearcats were outplayed. Jason Maxiell scored 14 points to lead Cincinnati and reserve Tony Bobbitt, the Bearcats' leading scorer, netted only eight points before fouling out. Southern Miss lost to Louisville 76-42 two weeks ago on the way to a 2-2 league mark. They defeated Marquette 83-61 this week. Leading scorers for the game were Greg Johnson with 24, David Haywood 14 points and Jasper Johnson 13. Southern Miss is hardly an offensive juggernaut, but Marquette's sloppy defensive play allowed Southern Miss to get behind the Marquette defense time and time again. Southern Miss responded by shooting 53.1 percent from the field for the game, including 66.7 percent in the second half as Southern Miss put the game away. A bad outing against Louisville will have the Bearcats eating nails by Saturday when they visit the undermanned Golden Eagles.
7 Units Wisc Milwaukee +3 -109
It will be Milwaukee's fast-paced offense (79 ppg) against Detroit's tough defense (42% shooting allowed, just 62.8 points per game surrendered). The Wisconsin Milwaukee Panthers shoot 50% from the field and love to run, even on the road where they average 76 ppg. They have several strong scorers in 6’-3” junior guard Ed McCants (18 ppg, 51% FGs), 6’-8” senior forward Dylan Page (20.9 ppg, 52% FGs, 7 rpg) and 6’-7” sophomore Adrian Tigert (5.8 rpg). But Detroit will slow the pace down and play tough defense -- The Titans are 6-2 at home where they outscore teams by a 62-60 average! The Detroit Titans (9-7 SU) are not big, led by Forward 6’-5” senior Elijah Warren (14 ppg) and guard Rulon Harris (9 ppg). Detroit is just 1-3 ATS at home and a year ago on this court, the better offense triumphed in a 73-72 Milwaukee win as a dog.
7 Units Vanderbilt -4.5 -109
As I expected, Vanderbilt (13-2 SU, 7-5 ATS) really gave it to Florida at Vandebilt, 86-72 SU. Now after a week of rest, they travel to struggling Arkansas ( 9-7 SU, 5-7 ATS). Arkansas is coming off yet another conference loss at Auburn, 70-63 SU (1-4 SU in the SEC). This team is clearly out-matched by the stronger teams in the SEC. Even though Vanderbilt is on the Road, they should put Arkansas way quickly. Vandy’s Matt Freije is the key player on the floor for the Commodores (17 ppg, 5 rpg). Arkansas is also a one-man squad leg by Jonathon Modica (17 ppg, 4 rpg). Don’t let the similar stats fool you, Vandy is the better team.
